The coves of la Costa Brava, the secret spots for movie stars

The Costa Brava began to be the scene of films in the 1930s, but it was not until the fifties and sixties when movie stars like John Wayne, Elizabeth Taylor or Ava Gardner were caught at its streets and beaches. Let’s take a tour through its charming villages and portray great celebrities as if we were paparazzi.

On the left we see Elizabeth Taylor on the set of “Suddenly, last summer” in Begur. On the right, we see her accompanied by her son Christopher Edward and her husband, Eddie Fisher, in the town of S’Agaró.

The actor Kirk Douglas, during the filming of the “The lighthouse at the end of the world” in Cap de Creus.

The actor and singer Frank Sinatra and the composer John Van Houson walking through the streets of Tossa de Mar.

The actress Ava Gardner, during the filming of “Pandora and the flying Dutchman” in Tossa de Mar, 1950.

Dirk Bogarde fishing on the beach Es Castell near Palamós. Dirk starred in “The Spanish Gardener”, a film in which several scenes appear on this same beach and in the Planassa de Palamós.

The musician Xavier Cugat and the singer Abbe Lane in La Gavina de S’Agaró, 1958.
