Summer begins, and we do it with a photographic series of swimming pools seen 300 meters high by photographer Stephan Zirwes, based in Stuttgart. Pools are that great element that can not be missing in any vacation, and an extraordinary design exercise.
“The pools often have nice structures and sometimes strange designs,” says the photographer. His series of pools presents this everyday element in a new, intriguing and inspiring way.
His images explore the lines and patterns of the pools. Human figures remain in the background: they can be seen, but they cannot be distinguished. Zirwes then edits the images to eliminate any distractions, such as buildings. The end result is an extensive series of images that give us a new perspective of the lines and designs that we often take for granted while we are at ground level.
